DAF Trucks has started dedicated training for technicians to learn about electric vehicles.
The training has begun for network-based DAF dealer technicans.
Therefore, the knowledge will be passed on to meet the increasing demand for EVs.
For example, the 19-tonne LF Electric is now available in the UK.
In addition, operators can also order the CF Electric rigid and tractor variants.
As a result, deliveries to operators of DAF EVs are becoming more regular.
In other words, there is now a real need for dedicated training and, therefore, maintenance of the vehicles.
The training is being delivered at the DAF Academy based at the company’s Haddenham HQ.
Importantly, it forms part of a programme of activities to prepare DAF dealers for the uptake of EVs.
Therefore, investment is being made in tooling and charging infrastructure, as well as training.
The LF Electric and CF Electric models are available to order now in full UK-specification.
Furthermore, the first customer vehicles will enter service in the coming weeks.
The DAF EV product training at the DAF Academy includes in-depth EV maintenance and diagnosis procedures.
This work is specific to the DAF range of electric vehicles.
Training content comes in addition to IMI level-3 EV training.
All delegates on the DAF EV product training have already successfully completed these courses.
Meanwhile, Suzanne Moore, DAF training manager, said the company is making sure it is fully prepared for EVs.
“Just like any DAF truck, customers operating DAF electric vehicles can rely on legendary DAF customer support,” she said.
“For example, we have electric vehicles entering regular operation and we offer a range of mobile and static charging options.”
