Renault Trucks renews World Food Programme partnership

News

The continuation of an agreement with the World Food Programme has been confirmed by Renault Trucks.

As a result, the truck maker will continue training teams for the UN Agency, particularly in Africa.

Specifically, the new arrangement between the two parties will run until 2026.

The aim is to make it easier for the World Food Programme to run and maintain its fleet of trucks on the ground.

In other words, Renault’s involvement will help reach those in need around the world with food and other assistance.

The announcement renews the itinerant system set up by Renault Trucks, consisting of two trucks serving as mobile training units.

Therefore, Renault Trucks is therefore passing on its expertise in different ways.

For example, it is ensuring availability and optimal performance of the World Food Programmes’ trucks.

In addition, it will be supporting the development of technical skills at local level and improve road safety in West Africa.

The World Food Programme operates over 900 trucks and relies on 5,000 vehicles around the world.

Furthermore, the world’s largest humanitarian organisation is often the first to dispatch aid to crisis areas.

For example, it uses food and other assistance to pave the way to peace, stability and prosperity.

Importantly, a training catalogue has been created, featuring modules in different aspects of truck operation.

For example, there is one for truck mechanics for technicians and workshop managers.

Meanwhile, another module is aimed at truck fleet managers, with an additional course about eco-driving.

The truck maintenance training will extend beyond World Food Programme staff.

In other words, government officials, NGOs, other UN agencies and private transporters are also eligible.

Jean-Francois Milhaud, head of the World Food Programme global fleet unit was delighted with the news.

He stated it would “positively impact transport management in the region”.
