New Atego trucks keep Formula One fleet on track

News

Two Mercedes-Benz Atego 7.5-tonne trucks have joined the Formula One fleet.

As a result, the supplier of UPVC windows and doors now boasts five trucks of the same type.

Furthermore, all five were supplied by Midlands Truck & Van.

As it happens, the West Midlands-based operator has relied on Mercedes-Benz trucks for 24 years.

Therefore, the identity of the new trucks didn’t come as a surprise to many.

Specifically, the company’s latest Atego trucks are both 818 variants.

Each truck has a 5.1-litre four-cylinder engines that produce 177hp.

In addition, they are have six-speed Mercedes PowerShift 3 transmissions.

The new trucks all have ClassicSpace S-cabs with a number of optional extras.

For example, they feature ventilated driver’s suspension seats.

Elsewhere, there are roof-mounted air deflectors and box bodies.

Those components were fitted by Fred Smith & Sons, of West Bromwich.

Meanwhile, the owner of Formula One, Martin Corcoran, said Mercedes-Benz trucks were a good fit.

“We take great pride in providing first class service,” he commented.

“Therefore, we will always go the extra mile to ensure total customer satisfaction.

“And, it’s imperative to the success of our business that we honour the delivery commitments we make.”

Continuing, Corcoran said Formula One had always relied on the Atego because it hasn’t let it down.

“For example, ours average 75,000 miles a year.

“However, we still have a 2016-registered truck that’s now covered 1.2 million miles.”

The truck still continues to do its job every day, said Corcoran.

“In addition to its fantastic build quality, the Atego is very smooth and comfortable,” he added.

“In addition, it’s fuel-efficient and cost-effective to operate.”

Concluding, the company’s MD said the aftersales from Mercedes-Benz was also invaluable to the Formula One fleet.
